Hui Zhu, is an artist based in Beijing, China who recently moved to Vienna in 2021. With over twenty years of experience in the field of art, she specializes in digital art, animations, installation sculptures, and exhibitions that explore the relationship between contemporary art, life, and national and international contexts.
Hui is the author of four books, including Ṕ, published by Shandong Education Press in 2022, Animation Storyboard Design, Audio-Visual Language (Tsinghua Education Press, 2006 and 2009), and Color Theory (China Higher Education Press, 2005). Her artwork and research have been exhibited and lectured both in China and internationally, including in the United States, Northern Ireland, Singapore, and Japan. Hui has been interviewed by Chinese Television in New York, USA, and China Central Television (CCTV).
She became an associate professor in 2013 and previously served as a faculty associate professor and supervisor at the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University. She currently works as a supervisor at Tsinghua University and serves as the club deputy director and art consultant of the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna. Hui has also held various positions, including curator of contemporary female art in Beijing (2021), director of Beijing 7STARWISH Animation Company (2012-present), and academic judge.
Hui has received grants from the National Arts Fund, the Ministry of Education, and the National Natural Science and Technology Foundation (863 Project) in China. She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts and a master's degree in film studies. She has also completed residencies at the CitéInternationale des Arts in Paris, France, as a visiting artist (2005, 2012) and visited the School of Visual Arts, New York, as a visiting scholar (2007).

Organized and Produced the 2021 Chinese Contemporary Female Artists Exhibition, selected and invited 11 influential Chinese contemporary female artists, whose works spanned media and materials, and jointly presented the thinking of Chinese contemporary women. Assoiciate Professor, 2013 – Present Academy Arts&Design, Tsinghua University, Beijing China As a full-time teacher from 2003 to 2021, undertook 270 class hours of professional art courses every year, including film language, animation conception, storyboard, character design, media arts, art practice, graduation guidance and other courses. Two of the courses won the National Excellent Course Teaching Achievement Award. As the first author, gave lectures and published 7 papers at top international professional conferences such as ACM SIGGRAPH, ISEA, Art Science International Symposium, etc.; published 6 papers in domestic and foreign core journals; 4 books, one book has been reprinted 12 times; 2 papers included in engineering index, CNKI included 2 papers, 2 papers included in ACM DIGITAL LIBRARY, cited 156 times. Supervisor, Academy Arts&Design, Tsinghua University, Beijing China, 2003 – present As a supervisor, responsibilities include guiding the study research and graduation defense of 4 postgraduate students, and guiding the graduation thesis and work guidance of 35 undergraduate students.
